Fox Entertainment To Invest $100M In First-Ever Animated Series On The Blockchain
Milestone Date: June 15, 2021
Fox Entertainment announced it is launching Blockchain Creative Labs with animation studio Bento Box Entertainment. One of the first projects will be “Krapopolis,” the first-ever animated series on blockchain, and Fox Entertainment is investing $100 million to make it come to life.
Fox is working with Dan Harmon, creator of “Rick and Morty,” to create the Krapololis series. The series will incorporate blockchain-related content throughout the entire process, starting with character development to the premiere. Rick and Morty is a popular and loved brand in the meme world, and the crypto community equally operates off memes to power excitement and culture.
“Not to go too far into it today, but as an advertiser-focused, artist-first, and animation-obsessed company, Fox is going to take advertisers into the world of blockchain-powered tokens, including NFTs,” Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said during the company’s “upfront” presentation on Monday, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The show will also have a dedicated marketplace to “curate and sell digital goods, ranging from NFTs of one-of-a-kind character and background art and GIFs, as well as tokens that provide exclusive social experiences to engage and reward super fans,” Fox stated.
Fox is making a major investment to show how blockchain can be leveraged for entertainment, creative production, and to connect fans with shows they love. This $100 million investment makes a statement that may disrupt entertainment as we know it.
