Spotted: Wrigley Planning To Enter NFT And Metaverse With “Juicyverse” Trademark
Milestone Date: March 30, 2023
Wrigley chewing gum company, owned by Mars, has filed for the trademark of “Juicyverse” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The filing notes that Wrigley plans to enter the Web3 space to partake in NFTs and the metaverse.
According to the application, the company plans to offer digital collectibles that go beyond static images, including “downloadable multimedia files, downloadable audio and video recordings, music files, and image files featuring movie clips, commercials, or graphics authenticated by non-fungible tokens (NFTs).”
Regarding metaverse initiatives, Wrigley intends to lock down ownership of downloadable software that enables users to find products in the real and virtual worlds, and offer virtual gifts and rewards such as downloadable image files containing images of artwork, apparel, confectionery, candy, or snacks.
This virtual world will allow its consumers to “interact for recreational, artistic, leisure, or entertainment purposes.”
Trademark filings for NFTs and the metaverse are appearing more frequently as enterprises invest in Web3 innovation. Food and beverage is a particularly hot industry that has seen recognized brands like Panera Bread, Wingstop, UTZ, Conagra Brands, Panda Express, and McDonald’s also filing for these types of trademark applications.
