What is Security?
The Blockchain Journal uses two disambiguations of the term security. Security (finance) applies to investment-related activities or the treatment of cryptocurrencies as securities. Security (protection) involves technologies and best practices used to protect distributed ledger infrastructure, cryptocurrency assets and other digital assets (data, code, etc.).
There are multiple unrelated definitions for the term “security,” each of which is relevant to the blockchain industry.
