Blockchain Journal's David Berlind Stumbles Across a Bitcoin Mercedes at World Economic Forum
While moving from meeting to meeting at the World Economic Forum in snowy Davos, Switzerland, Blockchain Journal's David Berlind came across a Mercedes AMG GT. At least that's what he thinks it is. All badges were removed from the car. In their place, a single Bitcoin occupies the prized spot where there once was a Mercedes hood ornament. See the Bitcoin Bedazzled Mercedes AMG GT that was at World Economic Forum 2023
David Berlind: I am David Berlind with Blockchain Journal coming to you from Davos, Switzerland, where the World Economic Forum is so in swing that, as you can see behind me, there is a huge traffic jam on the main promenade, which leads to the Congress Center where the World Economic Forum itself is taking place. This is what it's like during the week of World Economic Forum in Davos. Pretty much all other times of the year, it's nothing like this, and there's a lot of skiers here because it's a big ski town. So you not only see the security vehicles, they are everywhere and security people walking around everywhere. What you also see in Davos, Switzerland is something like this vehicle, this beautiful Mercedes sports car. And I want to point out something that's extremely special about it. This is belonging to a family that I think is an investor in cryptocurrency.
But what is really interesting, if you come over here and we look at the hood ornament, and we'll be very careful here, we'll brush this off. I don't know if you can see it, but there is a Bitcoin logo in the hood ornament right there on this car. So clearly customized by somebody who is a Bitcoin aficionado. The scene is just incredible here. It's really the second night of World Economic Forum. It's only going to get busier, but I thought I'd bring to you some of the nightlife and some of the goings on and what it's like in the town of Davos in the middle of this major event.
