Lacoste Launches New NFT Collection Of UNDW3 Avatars
Milestone Date: October 24, 2022
Lacoste’s UNDW3 community is getting “The Emerge,” a new collection of non-fungible token (NFT)-based avatars to use in the metaverse. Designed by UNDW3 community members in collaboration with Lacoste, these avatars represent various visualizations of the label’s crocodile wearing the short-sleeved polo shirts made popular by Lacoste in 1933.
Lacoste stated that “The Emerge” avatars will allow holders to access special opportunities, like meeting Lacoste ambassador athletes, accessing special sale events, and limited-edition product drops. Such limited-edition product drops, where the holder of a specific NFT is drop-shipped a corresponding physical item, are emerging as a standard component of the Web3 strategies of enterprises that embrace the forward-looking view that NFTs offer a deeper level of customer engagement than traditional Web and mobile approaches.

Lacoste’s Emerge collection of avatars features its iconic crocodile in a variety of degen-like forms that, from the looks of things, took some inspiration from the Bored Ape Yacht Club.
This collection drop acts as a “round 2” of Lacoste’s UNDW3 initiative, further establishing the label in the metaverse and presenting a new opportunity to engage with its community.
