Sesame Workshop — the non-profit organization behind the iconic kids’ brand Sesame Street — is partnering with VeVe, a digital collectibles app, to bring its first NFT collection to the blockchain. This initial NFT collection will be dedicated to the beloved Cookie Monster character. Each of the 5,555 NFTs will be USD $60 and the initial drop will be on March 19, 2023.
The Sesame Street NFT collectibles are just another example of media and entertainment brands, including Fox Entertainment and Lionsgate, that are leveraging blockchain technology to deepen their connection and engagement with fans. VeVe was founded in 2018 and built a mobile-first digital collectibles platform that has launched digital collectibles for brands like Disney, Marvel Entertainment, DC Entertainment, Warner Bros, and Star Wars.
Sesame Workshop’s launching of this NFT collection is a further example of how legacy media brands that have been around for decades are seeking innovative ways to capture the hearts of long-time fans and create new engagement opportunities and experiences.
