Volkswagen SA Launches NFT Advertising Campaign

Volkswagen SA – A South African subsidiary of Volkswagen – kicked off an NFT advertising campaign to celebrate the launch of its Polo car.

The campaign included a commercial (see video below) in which NFTs were hidden throughout. The company posted clues on its social channels so customers could try to find the NFTs, screenshot them, and post a picture on Twitter for a chance to win prizes.

During the five-day campaign, Volkswagen SA released 100 NFTs on OpenSea, a popular NFT marketplace. Each day, the first 20 people who tweeted the correct answer to the clues won an NFT. Three of the 100 NFTs up for grabs were “Golden” NFTs, rare ones that would give the winner access to even more prizes like a PlayStation 5 or a Volkswagen Advanced Driving course.

“Our new Polo NFT campaign and Mzansiverse commercial is a testament to Volkswagen’s eye on the future, not only in the innovation of our vehicles but in embracing the passions of our fans and driving evolution in how we engage with them,” said Bridget Harpur, Head of Marketing for the Volkswagen Passenger Car Brand.
