Zynga To Release Its First Web3 Game: Sugartown

The plot of Sugartown centers on three farm animals who unintentionally discover a passage to Sugartown, where they meet interesting beings called “Oras,” who use their creative imagination to transform Sugartown into a vibrant land of fun and games. Watch the game trailer here.

Sugartown is inhabited by Oras; beings that are represented by an ERC-721-compliant NFT on Ethereum. At the time this article was posted, Oras were for sale on OpenSea for 0.2336 ETH (~US $371.43).

So where does the Web3 component come into play, you ask? Players will gain entry to the game by using ERC-721 Ora NFTs as proof of ownership, a blockchain practice known as “token-gating.” Players can also stake Oras to earn energy so they can play games in Sugartown and earn Sugar, which is the in-game currency used to access rewards.

Interested players can mint Oras during the launch of Sugartown later this year.
