Casio Tweets About Future G-Shock X Doodles Collaboration

Milestone Date: February 14, 2024

Digital Twin

In a major phygital move, watch brand Casio collaborated with the notable NFT brand Doodles to co-produce Doodles-themed physical watches that are digitally twinned with collectible blockchain-based NFTs. This follows some recent blockchain-related activity taken by Casio’s multiple steps with blockchain technology — like the free Creator Pass in September and Virtual G-Shock NFTs in December — to blend digital and tangible experiences and offerings to Casio community members.

The custom Casio x Doodles watches were first available at an in-person drop exclusively at the 2G TOKYO event from February 9-11, 2024

The physical drop was followed by an online drop on Doodle’s website beginning February 15. The watches went on sale exclusively to holders of the Doodles OG and Virtual G-Shock NFT (VGA-001 or VGA-002) first, with the public sale beginning a few hours later.

Each G-SHOCK Box included an exclusive physical watch paired with a digital collectible (NFT) powered by NFC technology from IYK. Holders will be able to claim the NFT by tapping their phone against a chipped sticker attached to the watches.

The collaboration also includes a physical drop of additional merchandise like a hoodie, t-shirt, hat, and alien figurine.

The two brands first teased the collaboration announcement on January 31, 2024, as a Twitter post:

This collaboration signifies Casio’s continued efforts at blending its brand and designs with blockchain technology. It also opens the Japanese legacy brand to the emerging Doodles digital brand, opening up a new avenue for reaching and connecting with a new and wider audience.
