KFC India is entering Web3 by launching its own KFC BuckETH NFT, which it hopes will capture the hearts of its customers and fried chicken lovers. The NFT was minted on the Ethereum blockchain to celebrate KFC’s expansion to 600 stores across 150 cities in India.

There is only one KFC BuckETH NFT up for grabs. People can participate in a social media contest for a chance to win that single NFT. The winner will be given ownership of the NFT and get a year’s supply of KFC fried chicken. The contest rules are posted on KFC India’s Instagram page and participants must complete a “Chicken Lover Checklist” for a chance to win.

“The Bucket is as iconic to KFC as the signature taste of our chicken. The Bucket is a testimony to the brand’s heritage and has been an integral part of many celebratory moments for our customers. We are excited to usher the Bucket in a new way, in the new-age digital world, with our first NFT – KFC BuckETH – curated from vibrant designs by budding artists. The KFC BuckETH presents KFC fans with an opportunity to connect with the brand in the most unique manner ever,” said a KFC spokesperson in a press release.

Minting a single NFT over which customers must compete is certainly a creative way for a fast-food chain to experiment with Web3 and blockchain technologies for customer engagement and awareness. In March 2022, KFC’s US arm filed applications for some Web3 trademarks around the same time that its sister subsidiaries of Yum! Brands did the same.
