Lufthansa Group Airlines Launches NFT Loyalty Program On Polygon

Lufthansa Group Airlines is one of the largest airline enterprises in the world, and it is expanding its customer loyalty experience by launching NFTs that will reward passengers who fly with Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and Swiss International Air Lines.

To participate, passengers must download the Lufthansa Uptrip App, which will allow them to scan their boarding pass and exchange it to receive NFT trading cards that are themed based on destinations, airlines, and holidays. Participating passengers can also earn rewards like airport lounge access, flight upgrades, improved traveler status, and award miles. The app uses the Polygon proof-of-stake blockchain to issue the NFTs. The Uptrip App is a result of a collaboration between the Lufthansa Innovation Hub and Miles & More. It combines Web3 technology with entertainment and gamification to enhance the customer experience.

"We are delighted to see so much interest in Uptrip. Gamification elements introduce participants to Web3 technologies such as NFTs in a fun way. Furthermore, we have managed to transfer the enthusiasm for collecting that people know from trading card booklets into a digital space. This NFT loyalty program is an example of how enterprises can use blockchain technology to create engaging loyalty programs to reward and entertain customers while introducing a new technology in an approachable way.
