Taco Bell Launches Taco-themed Digital Collectibles
Milestone Date: March 8, 2021
Taco lovers can now enjoy their favorite food in the digital world as Taco Bell dropped its first taco-themed digital collectibles on Rarible, an NFT marketplace, and they were gobbled up within minutes.
The fast-food giant published a tweet introducing “NFTacoBell” (see screenshot, below) stating “Our Spicy Potato Soft Tacos can now live in your hearts, stomachs and digital wallets.” Taco Bell introduced five unique NFTs, offering them in sets of five. These digital collectibles were made available for purchase at a price of 0.001 ETH (US $1.79 at the time of offer), an affordable price point considering many NFTs sell within the hundreds or thousands of dollars range.

The fast-food restaurant Taco Bell tweeted about the minting of its NFTs under a cleverly named program called “NFTacoBell.”
Taco Bell will receive 0.01% from any future sales, and according to the company, all proceeds will go towards the Taco Bell Foundation's mission of helping young people find career opportunities. Taco Bell is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, which is also parent to KFC and Pizza Hut.
For Taco Bell (and other enterprises that are interested in replicating the fast-food chain’s blockchain successes), this could be an innovative way for the organization to leverage digital assets to generate revenue, engage customers, and even use the blockchain for structuring its efforts in the area of social responsibility.
