Toyota Launches NFTs To Engage Toyota Auto Salon Attendees

Japanese auto giant Toyota is innovatively engaging its fans at the 2023 Toyota Auto Salon by hosting an NFT “stamp rally.” This is not Toyota’s only foray into blockchain. In October 2022, Toyota’s luxury automotive brand Lexus announced it would be handing out NFT-based certificates of completion to graduates of its performance driving school program.
Toyota Auto Salon is an event that showcases modified cars and racecars. Attendees are encouraged to explore different parts of the Toyota booth where they can learn about new innovations and car models and collect virtual stamps.
Once the virtual stamps are collected, they can be redeemed for collectible NFTs at partnering booths like Tom’s and Denso. The digital collectible NFTs feature artwork for each participating brand. Interestingly, the Starbucks Odyssey NFT-based customer loyalty and engagement program also relies on the idea of stamps, but in a very different way. In that program, the stamps that participants collect are themselves the NFTs.
This is a fun way to leverage blockchain technology and NFTs to connect with event attendees, pique their curiosity to discover the offerings of other companies within an industry, and receive a digital collectible as a reward.
