Carl’s Jr. Files Trademark To Enter The Metaverse
Milestone Date: May 22, 2022
Carl’s Jr., a popular fast-food chain in the United States that’s a subsidiary of CKR Restaurants Holdings, has filed trademark applications for its name and logo with initiatives to embrace the Metaverse and NFTs.
The filing suggests the company’s initiatives regarding NFTs and the Metaverse, including:
- Virtual foods and drinks
- NFTs and NFT-backed multimedia
- Software for storing and transmitting NFTs (which typically implies some sort of marketplace, maybe with a custodial wallet)
- Virtual world featuring restaurants
The filing further hints at the company’s intentions to leverage NFTs to facilitate commercial transactions, as well as operating some sort of Metaverse-like virtual restaurant that would feature home delivery in the real and virtual worlds.
Metaverse trademark attorney Mike Kondoudis shared the filing news on Twitter.
Other fast-food restaurants, like Chick-fil-A, KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell (the latter three of which are a part of the Yum! Brands conglomerate), have also filed for Web3-related trademarks.
