Sephora Brings NFTs, POAPs, And Metaverse To “SEPHORiA” This Year

For the second year in a row, Sephora leveraged blockchain as part of its annual SEPHORiA event by incorporating NFTs, POAPs, and metaverse-based program elements. Last year, Sephora leveraged the metaverse and NFTs for the first time and received demand for more.

This year, on September 29-30, Sephora fans can attend the real-life SEPHORiA event in NYC or virtually in the metaverse. Virtual attendees can either register for a free “Virtual Key” ticket or pay US$65 for a “Virtual Key Swag” ticket. The free Virtual Key is available on a first-come, first-served basis with limited quantities, and this ticket option allows attendees to customize their avatar, earn a free limited-edition NFT, access exclusive content, and play games. The free NFT is, in fact, a Proof of Attendance Protocol (POAP) and will be granted to attendees upon entering the virtual space.

The optional paid Virtual Key Swag ticket is also available in limited quantities and grants holders access to a SEPHORiA swag item and an assortment of products valued at more than US$300.

A significant feature of this year's SEPHORiA event is the introduction of an immersive 3D gaming-like platform powered by blockchain technology. This platform will allow attendees to create personalized avatars they can use to navigate the virtual space, where they’ll be able to interact with other attendees, chat live with Sephora Beauty Advisors, and play games. These games are not just for entertainment—players can earn points for Sephora's Beauty Insider program by playing the games, further enriching the attendee experience for Sephora fans and customers.
